Dr. Shampa Ghosh
Neuroscientist and biochemist studying neurodegeneration, neurodevelopment and the metabolic influences on brain function.
Dr. Shampa Ghosh is a neuroscientist and biochemist. She is the Director of GloNeuro, where she directs the organisation’s scientific programme and leads the Discovery and Basic Neurosciences division.
Her work spans neurodegeneration, neurodevelopment and the metabolic influences on brain function, with an emphasis on translational neuroscience. She is especially interested in how metabolic dysfunction and oxidative stress drive brain ageing, and in Alzheimer’s disease, neuroinflammation and new strategies for delivering drugs to the central nervous system.
Her wider interests include epilepsy, sleep, nutrition and vitamin B12, spinal cord injury, digital health, and maternal and child health.
She trained in neurophysiology at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru, and in biochemistry at the ICMR–National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad.
